Treatment Information
It is a non surgical procedure by which the gel is administered through a few tiny injections by the physician. You may find that a topical anesthetic cream or local anesthetic is needed to help numb the area being treated. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding this treatment should be avoided.
Should I do anything prior to the treatment?
Restylane , Perlane and Juverderm do not require any pretesting; however we do ask that you avoid using aspirin, non -steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St John’s Wart, High Doses of Vitamin E because these may increase bleeding or bruising at the treatment site. If you previously suffer from cold sores, discuss with the doctor who may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence. No allergy test is required as it does not contain animal proteins and is biodegradable.
Downtime
Majority of people resume normal activity immediately following the procedure. After the treatment you might experience some swelling, redness, pain, bruising and tenderness that are usually site related lasting less than 7 days.
Frequency
Individual factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity will influence how the dermal filler will hold it’s effect. Results are individual and are expected to last between 6-9 months with some patients experiencing a slightly longer duration.
